My spontaneous adventure was sparked by a one-way ticket from Atlanta (ATL) to the vibrant city of Barcelona (BCN) to celebrate a friend's birthday. With an open-ended itinerary post-Barcelona, I chose to stay on and delve into the local cultures.

Stop 1: Barcelona, Spain | 9 Nights

Barcelona, a city nestled on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, is famed for its iconic landmarks such as the Sagrada Família church and its inviting beachfront. From basking in the Spanish sun to savoring traditional cuisine, I immersed myself in the city's lively culture.

Stop 2: Zaragoza, Spain | 3 Nights

The journey continued to Zaragoza, a historic city in the Aragon region, via high-speed rail. Rich in Roman history and culinary delights, Zaragoza is known for its landmarks like the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar.

Stop 3: San Sebastián, Spain | 2 Nights

From Zaragoza, we rented a car to San Sebastián, a city renowned for its beaches and cobblestoned old town, Parte Vieja. It is an enchanting blend of cultural history and picturesque beauty.

Stop 4: Bordeaux, France | 4 Nights

Bidding farewell to Spanish sunsets, we ventured into Bordeaux, France, a famed wine-growing hub nestled on the Garonne River, eager to taste the region's renowned wines.

Stop 5: Saint-Émilion, France | 1 Night

A quick 30-minute train ride from Bordeaux led us to the charming medieval village of Saint-Émilion, home to world-renowned wineries and awe-inspiring architecture.

Stop 6: Corfu, Greece | 2 Nights

Next, we jetted off to the idyllic island of Corfu in Greece, a destination steeped in Greek mythology and marked by its sandy beaches and laid-back atmosphere.

Stop 7: Zagori, Greece | 4 Nights

The journey deepened into Greece's mountainous region, Zagori. It quickly became my favorite destination with its unspoiled nature, traditional villages, and two national parks, Northern Pindos Park and Vikos-Aoos National Park, which boasts the Vikos Gorge.

Stop 8: Athens, Greece | 4 Nights

The grand finale of my 30-day European journey was Athens, Greece's ancient city. A visit to Europe is incomplete without exploring Athens, where history and modernity coexist in harmony.
