Transitioning from the scenic beauty of Zagori, I embarked on a historical expedition, traversing time to one of the globe's oldest metropolises. Athens' illustrious chronicles span over 3,400 years, adding a vibrant depth to the city's allure. While Athens' reputation as the democratic fountainhead is well-known, the city proffers much more. With a significant historical standing globally and boasting iconic attractions like the Parthenon and National Archaeological Museum, Athens teems with fascinating insights and experiences.

Out & About:

Perched on a rocky hill overlooking Athens, the ancient citadel of the Acropolis is an iconic symbol of Greek civilization. The citadel is home to architectural masterpieces such as the Parthenon, The Propylaea, the Erectheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike. Despite the challenging climb over timeworn marble, the panoramic view of these world-renowned landmarks is worth every step.

Take a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, Athens' oldest neighborhood. Its labyrinthine alleys house numerous boutique shops and cozy restaurants, offering an excellent opportunity to discover local crafts and savor authentic Greek cuisine.

The Acropolis Museum, located on the archaeological site of the Acropolis, showcases artifacts from the surrounding slopes and the citadel itself. Additionally, beneath the museum, you can explore the ancient neighborhood streets, providing a unique insight into Athens' past.

Located at the Parliament building, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a monument dedicated to soldiers who have lost their lives in war. Honor their sacrifice as you witness the hourly changing of the guard, performed by soldiers wearing traditional Greek uniforms.
